What the government can do to make me happy.

I thought I’d compile a short list, in case they wanted to know what I think. In no particular order…

1. Process refugees/boat people/whatever you want to call them on shore. I mean on. shore. Pick a part of this giant land, bring them in and treat them humanely. At the moment you seem to be treating our live export cattle better than you are treating refugees. You should be ashamed of yourselves. I know I am.

2. Gay marriage. Sorry, why is this an issue again? Can’t we all just let people that love each other marry? Any argument you have against this is automatically rendered invalid because it’s 2011.

3. The internet filter. I can’t believe you guys haven’t given up on this one yet. In fact, now you’re being all sneaky about it. We are big boys and girls and we don’t like our government telling us what we can and cannot see.

4. Green energy. I see you are doing some things about this, but I don’t think it’s enough. Imagine what would happen if you installed solar panels on all your government buildings. I reckon it’d be pretty cool.

5. Manage education and health at a federal level. Don’t let the states continue to fuck this one up, just take it over and make it work. Thanks.

6. Mental health. While you’re managing health at a federal level, could you do a bit more about mental health? Perhaps some more facilities, well trained staff and support for those in need?

7. Finally, I know this is more of a state government issue, but could you relax the food regulations a little so I can open one of these? I knew you’d understand!
